Where does Parrish’s water come from?

Parrish primarily obtains its water supply from groundwater sources. Like many other areas in Florida, Parrish relies on wells that draw water from the Floridan Aquifer. The Floridan Aquifer is a vast underground limestone formation that underlies much of the state and serves as one of the main sources of drinking water.

The groundwater is typically treated to meet the necessary quality standards before being distributed to residential, commercial, and industrial properties through the local water distribution system.

Contaminants

The water sources for Parrish residences generally contain trace amounts of a number of different contaminants. The Manatee County government routinely tests and provides reports on this. They are required to keep these levels below what is considered toxic, according to regulation.

This includes:

• Arsenic
• Chromium
• Chlorine
• Lead
• Harmful bacteria

However, residents only drink about 1% of the water in these systems, and the government does not have the resources to eliminate all of these contaminants completely.
